The Right Way to Care for Wool Clothing
It's that simple – with our tips!
Wool is a high-quality natural material – breathable, temperature-regulating and self-cleaning. With the right care, your popolini wool clothing will remain soft, functional and beautiful for a long time.
Good to know: Wool needs much less care than many people think!
Before the first wear: No washing necessary
Our wool clothing is manufactured in Europe to the highest ecological standards – free of harmful residues. You can wear it right away without washing it first.
✅ Skin-friendly ✅ Free from harmful substances ✅ Ready to wear immediately
Airing instead of Washing
Wool is:
- ✅ Antibacterial
- ✅ Odor-neutral
- ✅ Dirt-repellent
Usually, it is sufficient to air the clothing after wearing it – preferably in the fresh air.
Tip: Dried-on dirt like sand or mud? Simply brush it out with the Wonder Brush!
When washing is necessary
Hand wash (recommended)
- Cold to lukewarm water
- No rubbing or soaking
- Use only mild wool detergent
- No fabric softener
Machine wash (with caution)
- Wool cycle, max. 20 °C and 400 RPM
- Not every program is truly "cold" – stay on the safe side with 20 °C
- Place the garment in a laundry bag for extra protection
Drying & storing correctly
After washing:
✅ Gently squeeze (do not wring)
✅ Roll in a towel, press lightly
✅ Dry flat at room temperature
✅ Gently pull into shape while damp
- No tumble dryer
- No direct heat
- Protect from sun & radiators
- Do not hang to dry
- Do not iron – wool often smooths out on its own
Important: Always use a mild wool detergent, never fabric softener!
Extra tips for long-lasting wool
- Remove pilling with a wonder brush or lint shaver
- Apply lanolin treatment regularly, especially for outdoor clothing
- Keeps the wool water-repellent & supple
