Wool clothing for babies & children
What are the advantages of merino wool?
Wool is a true natural talent. Find out here why it is the ideal choice for babies and children in every season:
Naturally warm
Wool is naturally warming, breathable, and temperature-regulating. Your child stays comfortably warm and dry without overheating – in any season.
Gentle on the skin
Merino wool is particularly soft and ideally suited for sensitive baby and children's skin – completely without synthetic additives.
Easy to care for
Wool clothing is uncomplicated – usually, airing it out is enough. If necessary, you can clean it gently by hand wash or in the wool wash program and let it dry flat.
Sustainable
Wool is a natural, renewable raw material – biodegradable, durable, and environmentally friendly. Good for your child and our world.

Tip: Look for quality & origin
High-quality, sustainably sourced wool is not only longer lasting, but also particularly kind to the skin and environmentally friendly.

Wool materials at a glance
What types of wool clothing are there – and what are they suitable for?
Depending on the processing and blend, wool clothing is suitable for different needs:
Wool-Silk
Delicate blend of merino new wool + silk
Very soft, light, temperature-regulating, ideal for the whole year. Perfect as a first layer (underwear) directly on the skin.
Wool knit
Knitted merino new wool
Very soft, elastic, good insulation. Optimal as a mid-layer under an outdoor wool overall.
Wool terry
Finely knitted merino new wool with terry loops
Fluffy on the inside, very soft, retains heat even better than smooth wool fabrics.
Wool fleece
Knitted merino new wool, brushed to create a fleece
Very light and cuddly soft. Perfect as an outer layer for babies and toddlers – also suitable for baby carriers and car seats.
Boiled wool
Knitted merino new wool, heavily compacted by moisture, heat, and movement
Firm, robust wool fabric. Wind and water-repellent. Ideal as outdoor clothing in autumn/winter from walking age.
Boiled Wool or Wool Fleece – What's the Difference?
Boiled wool is created by fulling (a type of felting process). The fabric is robust, windproof, and water-repellent – ideal for active children from walking age, who romp around outside.
Wool fleece is knitted and brushed. This creates a soft, fluffy material that keeps just as warm but is not as robust or windproof. Perfect for babies and toddlers who are not yet mobile.
Do boiled wool and wool fleece keep warm enough in winter?
Yes, both materials are perfect for winter. Wool is warm, breathable, and temperature-regulating. For very cold days, you can add a layer of wool knit or wool terry and wool-silk underneath – with the layering look, your child is well protected even at sub-zero temperatures.
Wool clothing in rain and snow?
Both materials – boiled wool and wool fleece – are water-repellent, but not waterproof. Light rain or snow beads off. In heavy rain, an unlined rain pant and jacket over them is recommended. This way, your child stays completely dry and you save on a snowsuit.
Overall or two-piece?
Overalls are perfect for babies – they are quick to put on and keep them warm all around.
Two-piece sets (jacket + pants) are ideal for mobile toddlers – especially during potty training.

Layering look with wool clothing
Perfectly dressed, layer by layer
The layering look is ideal for dressing your child appropriately in any weather – breathable, temperature-regulating, and flexible. Our wool clothing perfectly supports this principle:
1. Base layer / Underwear
Wool-silk as underwear, a bodysuit, or pajamas. Gentle on the skin, temperature-regulating, and moisture-wicking – for an all-around comfortable feeling, day and night.
2. Middle layer / Thermal layer
Merino wool knit or wool terry – as a sweater, little jacket, pants, or overall. This layer retains heat and can also be worn solo in autumn. In winter, it's perfect between underwear and outdoor clothing.
3. Outer layer / Outdoor clothing
Wool fleece or boiled wool – as a jacket, pants, or overall. This natural outer layer reliably keeps warm, is wind and water-repellent, and protects your child from the cold in autumn and winter.
